On the Buckley’s website right now, there’s a contest for the best “bad taste” video showing a negative consumer experience! Buckley’s slogan is: “It tastes awful. And it works.”
Buckley’s is owned by Novartis and I worked near the team that was trying to bring Buckley’s to the US. They tested the concept and it just didn’t translate to the US consumer. It works in Canada because it’s an old brand with a lot of heritage and affection.
