I Miss Chinese Haircuts

Every three or four weeks during my year in China, I would go to the local salon for some special treatment. They’d shampoo it up, massage my scalp and shoulders, cut my hair, shampoo and massage it again, clean out my ears (and eyes, if I wanted), blow dry my hair, and style it however I wanted. An hour of pampered service … for two dollars and fifty cents!

Now it’s just me and my clippers in the bathroom on a Friday night.

Aha~ China is a real good place for live. I think haircut, for man, is cheap. but for woman, If I want to curv my hair. It’s too expensive. It will spend me about 400-1000 RMB. so I also cut or curv my hair by myself. actually I like to design my hair

That was modern hair cut. Traditional cut uses blowtorch.

i miss the shave personally. having someone put a blade to my face who i don’t know for 25 cents and coming away clean…amazing experience. cheaper than shaving materials…and it was with a straight edge blade :!:
i never did anything with my hair though…

David, I used to have a barber who did this when we lived in Michigan. Old guy in a barbershop that reminded me of those barbershop scenes in Coming to America. Anyways, when we went back to visit a few years later, I went in specifically to feel the sinful pleasure of a shave with a straight blade and warm shaving cream, only to be told he no longer could do them for liability reasons. Disgusted me at the time, that lawyers and lawsuits could ruin such a rich enjoyable experience. I even offered to sign a waiver and tip him well, but he still refused.

if you were adopted by the barber he could probably do them.
