When giving a small present to a female friend, don’t put it in a ring box (unless if it’s actually a ring). It doesn’t matter how well it fits … just trust me on this one.

Its also fun when you give ‘em a ring size box ENCLOSED in a larger sized box… I gave Rebekah pearl earrings for Valentines Day, enclosed in a larger box with 20 pounds of free weights from my weight bench in the bottom. I think she thought it was a bowling ball at first!

Also, general tip from the female perspective: giving and receiving jewelry is just much much better all around when everyone is sure that they want to continue with the relationship. I once received a non-engagement ring from someone who seemed to be trying to keep things going… SCARY. Matt later had the stones from it remade into a necklace for me. Much better.
