Nose First
So … I was just awoken from a deep sleep by the sound of my phone’s alarm in the other room. By instinct, I hurriedly got up and followed the noise, hoping to turn it off before it woke up the tenants upstairs.
When I got to the piano bench, where I had left the phone, I suddenly heard a tremendously loud crash, felt my nose go numb, and looked up to find myself flat on the floor.
Wha?
Turns out that I had gotten up a little too quickly … I had passed out, fallen face-first into the bench, and sent it (and myself) crashing to the floor. And as the numbness started to spread to the rest of my face, I had a valuable epiphany … summer mornings are supposed to be s.l.o.w.

Dude, totally. Slow down, old man! Though I have to admit I quite enjoyed that little anecdote.

Seriously … the story almost ended up like this:

That actually happens to me a lot in the mornings. The door frames catch me sometimes, but mostly I just end up looking pretty bruised. It was much worse when I had roomates that would hear the crash and come running to see what happened!

Oh, I didn’t lay it out on my floor, HP … they did.

may need to be more selective in who gets keys in the future, or at least hide the knives…

That happens to me frequently — once in high school I jumped up from the couch (too quickly) and wound up in the hospital because I somehow managed to fall into the fireplace and slice open my hand on a corner piece of metal. Its a weird feeling, because it doesn’t hurt (sort of “out of body” feeling) and you wake up “remembering” what happened like it was a dream.
