The Great Wall Marathon

On May 19th, I ran in my first organized race, the Great Wall Marathon near Beijing. The demanding 26.2 mile course covered several miles on China’s most famous landmark, 3700 stone stairs, and a few villages in the surrounding countryside … and it was possibly the biggest physical challenge of my life! Why would I do something crazy like that? Well, I wanted to help Love Without Boundaries, a non-profit organization that helps orphans in my city, Loudi. LWB works tirelessly to provide foster care, surguries, nutrition and education programs, caregiver/teacher training, and summer camps for the many children that are abandoned in this city … and 98.4% of their donations go directly to help the children.

After all was said and done, we ended up raising over $5,000 for the children’s home in Loudi … it’s currently providing clothing, therapy, foster care, and emergency needs for dozens of children this year. Thank you all so much for your generosity! If you still want to get in on the action, just click on the button below … I’ll be happy to pass your donation along to those who need it!
